Obituary – Michael T. McNulty

Michael T. McNulty, 79, of rural Chillicothe Illinois, died on April 5, 2024 at Lacon Rehab and Nursing in Lacon, Illinois. Born on November 2, 1944, to the late Clarance and Margaret (Anderson) McNulty, he married Crystal Smith on July 11, 1987 in Edwards Illinois. She survives.

Also surviving are his daughter Jennifer McNulty of Peoria Heights; son Christopher McNulty of Chillicothe; Sisters Patricia (Jim) Miller of Tennessee, Teri Bruce Thiemann of East Peoria, Cheryl (John) Becker of Kickapoo, Illinois; stepbrother Ray Anderson of Arizona; stepsister Sandra Kramer of Texas; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceeded in death by his brothers Bill and Joe McNulty, and Sister Jan McNulty.

After high school, Mike volunteered to be a Corpsman in the Navy. He eventually ended up on the hospital ship Repose, where his brother Bill, who followed him into the Navy also served. Even his brother, Joe, served in the Army. After the Navy, He joined the Steamfitters Union at local 353 in Peoria and practiced the trade for over 40 years.

Mike was an avid hunter and owned a duck club for a while. He also loved to hunt deer and most other things that he could shoot at. Mike’s natural love of the outdoors manifested in his upkeep of the Hicks Hollow valley. He would keep the roads clean, the down trees picked up, the ditches mowed, and the snow plowed.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family Graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Cemetery at a later date. memorials can be made to the ARK Animal shelter and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com.
