Chillicothe Optimist Club Flag Day History

In June 1996, the Chillicothe Optimist Club started the Flag Day Program to honor Flag Day and to give away small flags to the children, big and little. We have also collected donations to help support our many projects that we have undertaken over the years, such as scholarships, little league teams, library summer programs, different projects for C.E.C. and I.V.C. High School, and of course we have helped support our local “Town Theatre” for the last 12 years.
We could not do all of this without the support of our wonderful community who have supported us over the years.
Our club is now 37 years old and we would love to have new members join us as some of us are reaching our “golden years.” If you have an interest in helping the children of Chillicothe, the surrounding area and our community, we meet on the first and third Saturday morning at Grecian Gardens from 8am–9am for a breakfast meeting. It is a good way to meet new people and have fun! However, in July, we will only meet once and it will be at 6pm on Tuesday, July 19th at Grecian Gardens. We will be back to our regular schedule in August.
We want to thank the community for your support for Flag Day donations. We raised approximately $2,200 this year. “Friend of Youth” is our motto.
