Chillicothe Circle of Service

Four graduating seniors were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Chillicothe Circle of Service on Awards Night at IVC High School May 18. Selection criteria included academic achievement, school involvement, community service, and financial need. Pictured left to right: Jayden McNaught, Chloe Campbell, Alana Cahill, and Piper Maher. Presenting the scholarships to the students (back row left to right): Emily Mowbray, granddaughter of our late member Joyce Mowbray, in whose memory one scholarship was given; and Scholarship Committee co-chairs Marti Boyle and Kitty Baxter. Our annual Terri Lynn nut sale funds these scholarships. We thank the community for their support!

Chillicothe Circle of Service had been known as Altrusa; however, effective June 1, 2019, they parted ways with Altrusa International and incorporated as Chillicothe Circle of Service. They regularly support Love-In-Action Food Pantry, Community Needs Agency, and Heritage Health: Therapy and Senior Care – Chillicothe. They also volunteer at Helping Hands, support local schools by providing gift cards from local retailers so staff can purchase items needed by students, encourage literacy by providing books to schools and businesses, and help the Masonic Lodge at their quarterly pancake and sausage breakfast. This July they will hold a diaper drive among their membership, and those diapers will be donated to the Center for Prevention of Abuse.
They meet the second Tuesday of every month (except January and February). Their only fundraising event is the sale of Terri Lynn products (nuts, chocolate-covered nuts, dried apricots, and other various items). This sale typically begins in early November every year. Proceeds from this fundraising effort allow the Chillicothe Circle of Service to give scholarships to graduating IVC seniors. Since 1961 they have given more than $85,000 in scholarships.
