Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce News - August 2022

Jul 26, 2022 06:10PM ● By Molly Crusen Bishop
It’s been a fun and wonderful summer here in Chillicothe, Illinois. We are glowing with pride for the success of the Chillicothe Days Carnival in June, and the eventful fundraising events held here in our community for the Chamber and for the Lions Club with the Mr. Chillicothe Contest. I hope next year will be equally successful. We will be growing our Silent Auction Fundraiser, and be getting a head start in early 2023, so please reach out if you are interested in volunteering!
July brought us the Citywide Garage Sale on the last weekend in July, and the Chamber put out a map with addresses and descriptions and times for the garage sales going on all over town, and the surrounding area. People paid a $15 fee to get registered with the Chamber, and get a chance to win one of two $25 gas gift cards in a drawing. We held our monthly Chamber luncheon at Grecian Gardens, and the Chillicothe Public Library hosted a Business After Hours Networking at the end of July.
The Chamber will be doing a Membership Campaign soon! So be on the lookout for information on how you can help us grow and strengthen our Chamber community even more! Do you have a home-based business or work with a non-profit organization? Did you know the Membership dues for a home-based business or non-profit are only $75 for an entire year? Our Membership funds help keep us a strong and functioning Chamber!
August 14th brings one of my favorite community events to host from the Chamber—the 21st Annual HLC River Jaunt! The HLC is a canoe/kayak river jaunt that begins in Henry Harbor with a light to go breakfast, and on to Lacon Marina for lunch donated by the Henry and Lacon Subway and a raffle! The big prize is a $200 gift card from Bushwhacker! From Lacon the participants proceed to Shore Acres Park in Chillicothe for a home cooked meal. Cost is only $50 and includes a t-shirt for those who were registered by August 1st.
We are looking forward to the Monthly Luncheon in August and the many events coming this fall such as the Bridge to Bridge Event on September 17th, the Merchants Trick or Treat in October, and much more.
As always, please make choices each week to support our Chillicothe Chamber businesses. It may take a few minutes to plan out your needs, but the local businesses here truly appreciate the patronage and it helps keep more of our tax dollars here locally. Our business owners are always the first ones to donate for any one of a number of wonderful deserving causes here in Chillicothe, and give personal service to us.

Thank you from the Chillicothe Chamber!
