The Optimist Club is again out and about in our town working to make it a better place to work and play. In August, the club partnered with the Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce to serve food for the Canoe and Kayak Jaunt from Henry to Chillicothe. The club served 130 participants at Shore Acres Park after the event.
    Coming soon—the club has purchased a new bench to be installed in front of the Optimist’s Chillicothe Town Theater. This bench will be installed in the next few weeks by the city and be dedicated to Dick Howarth, a founding member of the club.
    Another purchase is a handicapped accessible picnic table for Shore Acres Park. The table is on back order and will be installed by the park district as soon as it arrives.
    On September 6th the Optimists will usher in the new slate of Officers at Grecian Gardens at 6pm. Guests are welcome to attend and meet our new board and talk with our members about our active club.
    September 17th at 9am you can find us at Picket Fence providing a bake sale for the Bridge to Bridge Event the Chamber is sponsoring. Stop by for lots of goodies!
    The club is always looking for new members. Our breakfast meetings are the first and third Saturdays of the month at Grecian Gardens at 8am. (The Sept. 6th installation will take the place of the Saturday morning meeting that week.)
