THE CHILLICOTHE OPTIMIST CLUB - October 2022

The Chillicothe Optimist Club held their annual Installation of Officers banquet Tuesday evening at Grecian Gardens restaurant. Illinois Optimist Governor, Carol Schlutt, was present to assist with the installation of officers process. Outgoing Optimist Club President, Cheryl Farwell-Duckworth presented Optimist Club member, Jeannie Quick, with the 2022 Optimist of the Year award; Optimist Club member, Sherry Adams with the 2022 Outstanding Service Award; and Bobbi Crothers-Bisio with the President’s Citation Award. Outgoing Club President, Cheryl Farwell-Duckworth thanked the past board members for their dedication and support she received from all of them this past year. “Without you, this year would have been so much more difficult.” President Cheryl then introduced the new incoming President, Jaci Peters, to the club who presented Cheryl with a certificate of achievement for her year as president, and then outlined the goals she hoped to accomplish this next year, including her wish to improve the club’s personal connection with the area youth and youth programs.
On September 6th, a bench commemorating long time Optimist member Dick Howarth—was installed and dedicated in front of the Town Theatre. Dick was always an Optimist and looked for the best in everyone.
Then Optimist Illinois Governor, Carol Schlutt asked the new president, secretary, treasurer, and board members to come forward to be sworn in as the new 2022/2024 officers and board members.
Serving this coming year are: Jaci Peters; President, Lori Sarver: Secretary (not present)
Cheryl Duckworth; Treasurer. Board members: Sherry Adams, Kim Murnan, Avis Sutton,
Joyce Close, Tim White (not present) and Jeannie Quick, (communication coordinator).
The evening culminated with a meal and many cheerful discussions.
