Did You Know? October 2022

The Chillicothe Town Theatre now has a handicapped accessible restroom. The women’s restroom was revamped to accommodate a wheelchair with a new wider entrance, partitions were removed, a new handicapped height toilet was installed, and grab bars were installed on the walls. The men’s bathroom underwent changes as well. Partitions were removed, a new handicapped height toilet was installed, and grab bars will be installed soon. With these changes, both restrooms are now considered “family” restrooms, so be sure to lock the door when in use since both are now considered private restrooms. Now more people will be able to enjoy the Town Theatre that may have not had the chance before.

Last month, Rick Lingenfelter shared the history and results of the Chillicothe St. Jude Runs and the Brad Wallin Memorial Tournament. Through their effort, Chillicothe contributed $473,000 to St. Jude Hospital—almost half a million dollars in 2022! But, did you know that (aside from Memphis), Chillicothe is routinely on top of the list of the Satellite Teams for the amount of funds raised? This list of 36 teams includes much larger cities such as Chicago and St. Louis, yet our community of only 6,000 raised more. We have a lot to be proud of with all the hard work of our volunteers and our generous community coming together to help St. Jude Hospital.

There is a Lighting and Heating Assistance Program (LIHEAP) available to low-income people and families with their heating and cooling bills. To qualify, you need to submit an application and provide the required documents. The Community Needs Agency (CNA) here in Chillicothe can provide assistance in filling out the forms. Give CNA a call or stop in to get information and/or pick up an application. 309-274-6333, 418 W. Wilmot, M T W from 9:30am to 1pm.
