Chief Jeremy Cooper grew up in Wildwood, IL and graduated from Midland High School. He has an Associate’s degree in criminal justice. Married with two young sons, he graduated from the Illinois Police Training Institute in 2018. He began working in Chillicothe in May of 2019 as a patrol officer. He was appointed to the position of detective in August of 2020. Jeremy is also certified as a lead homicide and sexual assault investigator. He was awarded the officer of the year in 2021. For the last year he has worked with the MEG unit (Multi-County Narcotics Enforcement Group) while assigned to the detective position in Chillicothe.
