The Chillicothe Voice

IVC Ghost Post

Here is what is happening on the IVC scene this February…

IVC Student Council is sponsoring a stuffed animal drive for Cuddles with Kindness through February 8th. Please consider donating a stuffed animal for an area child in need of comfort. You may send this stuffed animal to IVC with any high schooler. The collection bin is in the high school library.

IVC student council is also preparing for their annual Cystic Fibrosis Foundation fundraiser. Each year, IVC High School students create groups that generate a wide assortment of fundraising events to try and raise money to benefit those individuals who are suffering with cystic fibrosis. Although, our box lunch auction will not occur until the end of April, our students will be fundraising starting in February and continue through April. Be on the lookout for our students who are fundraising for this worthwhile cause. Last year, IVC students raised over $21,000. Our community is the most giving we know! Thank you for all the support you give us in all the causes we care about!

Eighth graders from Mossville Junior High School and Chillicothe Junior High School will be visiting the high school to preview elective options for their high school schedules. Mossville will be visiting IVCHS on Monday, February 6th, and CEC will be visiting IVC on Tuesday, February 7th.

The IVC Dance Team is sponsoring a “Little Kids Dance Clinic” on Thursday, February 9th from 5:30 – 7:30pm, and the dancers will perform at the IVC home varsity basketball game on Friday, February 10th.

The IVC District Jazz Night will be held on Wednesday, February 15th at 6pm at IVC High School. The jazz bands from IVC High School, Mossville Junior High School, and Chillicothe Junior High School will be performing throughout the evening. The district jazz bands will also be traveling to Rolling Meadows for an overnight competition Friday, February 24 – Saturday, February 25.

On Thursday, February 23, 2023, IVC High School will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive from 8am – 1pm. All are welcome!  Please enter the high school through the main high school office doors and bring a driver’s license (Photo ID). You may register for your donation on the American Red Cross website. The drive will be held in the upper balcony of the gym, not the auditorium. Students aged 16 years old need a permission slip filled out and signed by a parent/guardian. Students aged 17 and older do not need a permission slip. Our goal is 40 pints! Thank you for helping us reach our goal!

Rehearsals for the IVC spring musical, The Little Mermaid, are underway. Performances will be Thursday, March 16, Friday, March 17, and Saturday, March 18 at 7pm. There will also be a Sunday matinee at 3pm. Prior to the Sunday matinee, there will be a special meet and greet event at 1:30pm. More details will be available next month! Please make a plan to enjoy our production!

IVC’s winter sports and activities are in full swing. Please see the IVC district website: www.ivcschools.com and select your student’s school and calendar to view the many events that are scheduled throughout the month of February.
