What’s Happening in Chillicothe... March 2023

March is a wonderful time to be living in Chillicothe! The weather begins to warm and spring is in the air. Daylight savings time is March 12th, so don’t forget to update the clocks. The Public Works Cemetery and Parks committee gets ramped up for the spring clean-up at the cemetery. The clean-up is the 2nd full week in April. Signs will be posted on the cemetery gates as a reminder.

At the February 13th City Council meeting, the Council:
  • Presented the Landscape Waste Drop Off Schedule for 2023. The schedule can be found on the City’s website at https://cms9files.revize.com/chillicothe/document_center/YARD%20WASTE%20DROP%20OFF%20SCHEDULE23.pdf
  • Referred – Engineer to Prepare Resolution – The City of Chillicothe is entering into an agreement with IDOT to upgrade stop lights and Route 29 from Truitt Street through Cloverdale Street.
  • Approved – Purchase PermaNet+ GPRS Data Logger w/Leak Noise Sensor and Accessories. This $43,112 expenditure will be coming from the General Funds/ARPA. This equipment will allow the Public Works department to identify and correct water leakage.
  • Approved – Ordinance Amending Traffic Schedule for Ash Street, adding a stop sign at Ash & First St.
  • Approved – Notice for Special Event by Chillicothe Fire Department, a Centennial Parade on May 6th at 2pm and an Open House from 12–4pm.
  • Approved – Notice for Special Event for Chillicothe Optimist Club to hold a Home Run Festival Downtown on June 3rd from 9am to 7pm.
  • Approved – Request for Live Entertainment at the American Legion on March 5th from 2pm – 5pm as a fundraiser for longtime auxiliary member, Anita Ward.

4 – Indoor Triathlon - Pearce Community Center - 8am
11 – Chillicothe 2nd Saturday - Retail Businesses on 2nd, 4th, and Santa Fe
16–19 – Chillicothe Players presents Romance in D - Shore Acres Clubhouse
16–19 – Spring Musical The Little Mermaid - IVC
21 – Recruit Classes start – Chillicothe Community Fire Department
