Freedom Paws Service Dogs Needs Your Help

Many of us have seen the commercials on TV about veterans and first responders, experiencing PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) but, did you know we have a nonprofit foundation in the Chillicothe area that works to provide and train dogs to assist with PTSD?

Freedom Paws Service Dogs Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit led by Corey James. It takes 1 ½ to 2 years to train a dog to be worthy of this great challenge of becoming a service dog. The recipient and the dog work together for this unique bond for a long time. So far, 38 dogs have reached this level, but many end up falling short.

As you can imagine, with service dogs also comes medical needs for the dogs and that’s where a local veterinarian has stepped up to the plate to help. Recently Carol Kluka from Animal Care Clinic was awarded the “Outstanding Veterinarian” award from Freedom Paws Service Dogs Foundation for her eagerness to help them.

You too, could help, and help is needed. If you want to make a difference, you can donate money in memory of a loved one for a tax deduction or leave a legacy by simply including Freedom Paws in your estate. What a great way to keep a veteran’s name alive by donating to help a fellow veteran in need. There’s no fancy office or high overhead but there’s a small group of people that could use your financial help in making a difference for first responders and veterans in need.

Corey James the President and CEO can be reached at 309-669-7917 and Brenda Olson, Vice President, can be reached at 309-208-3639.
