The Chillicothe Voice

What Is Chillicothe Players Theatre?

Did you know that Chillicothe has its own little community theatre group? Chillicothe Players has been around for many years, but not everyone is aware of this little powerhouse of entertainment. Over the years, they have entertained with musicals, youth theatre, comedies, mysteries, dinner theatres, straight plays, and even theatre classes during Fine Arts Week at our schools.

Why is theatre important to a community?
Community theatre impacts small communities to major metropolitan areas across the United States unlike any other arts and culture genre. It requires the creativity of dedicated volunteers from ticket takers to actors, designers to directors, to produce high quality live shows that entertain and leave lasting impressions and provoking important societal conversations.

Community theatre provides everyone with the opportunity to express themselves on a judgement-free stage. Teamwork is a key component for every act performed onstage. It can spark social change. It is like joining a family. And each performance is authentic and different. It is never the exact same performance twice.

Chillicothe’s youth theatre have casted young grade school students who continue theatre throughout high school, and some have continued through college. Many are friends for life. They are a unique, creative, bright group of kids. Theatre has helped kids with reading, memorizing, play acting, role reversals, empathy, and so much more. Many, many actors started in community theatre. There are many reasons to support your community theatre as you can see, not to mention for your own entertainment here in your hometown.
