Circle of Service News – April 2023

Chillicothe Circle of Service members gathered March 8th at the Three Sisters Park office building to prepare for the 2023 Spring Planting session, which provides school children an opportunity to experience work on a 1918 farm.  Carol Anderson, Mary Baker, Terri Castle, Terry Sue Castle, Judy Dawson, Jane Funk, Linda Herron, Jean McMorrow, Pat Parr, Pat Simmons, Pat Speer, and Emily Thompson wrapped six kernels of corn in small squares of cloth (which will be germinated in a 1918 germination drawer) and wrapped cobs of popcorn (including popping instructions) so students can take home, shell by hand, and pop in a pan! Ron Weitzel, creator of Spring Planting, was the coordinator for this working session. Many members will be back to help with the event April 25 – 27.

At the March meeting, Service Committee members Mary Baker, Beth Colgan, and Marge Dell collected food for Love-In-Action Food Pantry, which serves families in Chillicothe, Rome, Mossville, Henry, Lacon, Princeville, and Sparland every Friday from 1 – 3pm at 422 W. Truitt. Members contributed rice, canned goods, spaghetti sauce, tuna, peanut butter, and many other foods, almost filling the cargo space of two SUVs. Food pantry coordinator Sandy Reliford thanks Circle of Service ladies for their continuing support.
