The Chillicothe Voice

OPTIMISTICALLY SPEAKING

Spring... what a beautiful word! Everything is anew—people are doing spring cleaning inside and out. As we look to the warmer weather we have to remember, if it wasn’t for winter we wouldn’t look forward to spring like we do, and if it wasn’t for rain we wouldn’t appreciate the sunshine. To everything there is a season, turn turn turn, as the Bible says.

The Optimists are busy planning our upcoming events: Annual Garage Sale  May 13th at the Casting Club, The Home Run Festival on June 3rd at City Park, and watch for us selling flags on Flag Day June 9th & 10th. (Corrected dates)

The handicapped accessible picnic table, bought by the Optimists, has been installed at Shore Acres Park next to the new binocular telescope. Stop by and watch the river wildlife, relax, and take a picnic lunch.

Did you know that IVC has a Junior Optimist’s club? The JOI club at the high school is very active and they do many fundraising activities throughout the year to benefit others. Our senior club partners with them on events whenever we can.

Be sure and check the movies coming up at our Optimist Town Theater. Many newly released movies are coming soon. Ask about our Subscription Cards and our new Punch Card, too.  They make great gifts for everyone.

The Optimist Club is always looking for new members. Our motto is: “Friend of Youth....Bringing Out the Best in our Kids, our Communities, and Ourselves.”               We welcome everyone to join us and work with us to make Chillicothe a better place to live for all.

Our breakfast meetings are held the first and third Saturdays at Grecian Gardens, from 8–9am in the back dining room. Come join us and find out how you can get involved and make a difference in your hometown.

Until Next Month.....Stay Optimistic!
