Letter From the Editor – May 2023

Apr 25, 2023 03:36PM ● By Ginny Molleck

When you read this month’s issue, it may look and feel a little different. That’s because The Chillicothe Hometown Voice has grown again. I’m so happy to report that because of all the awesome financial support from advertisers, we are able to add four more pages. This is the second time in our one year of publishing that we have exceeded the allowed space because of all the great information that you, the community, has shared. Thank you for all your contributions and the positive comments we continue to receive. This newspaper exists because of YOU! So, save the date of June 24th when we will host an open house reception to celebrate our one-year anniversary of The Chillicothe Hometown Voice. Details will be published in next month’s issue.

This month you will see many “Save the Date” opportunities for events coming up in June. Although May is full of activities—such as the Fire Department’s 100-year Celebration, the Optimist’s Club Garage Sale, and graduations—June will be full of fun starting the weekend of June 3rd with the Brad Wallin Tournament, Ride the Rails, and the Home Run Festival. Then, June 14th kicks off Chillicothe Days which runs through the 17th, and of course, there is Downtown Thursday on June 15th which always offers enjoyment for all ages. But, this year, June 15th is an extra special day for Chillicothe, IL. The date is 6/15/23 — Our very own Zip Code!!! The community is invited to think of special ways to celebrate our Zip Code Day which won’t happen again for another 100 years. Watch for details to be announced about how we will commemorate Chillicothe’s Zip Code Day next month.
