The Chillicothe Voice

Optimistically Speaking

J.B. Culbertson, Lieutenant Governor from the Optimists Club, presented two $1,000 scholarships at IVC awards night May 17th. This year’s recipients were Michael Conklin and Elizabeth Crockett.

The Optimist’s Annual Garage sale on May 13th was a great success. $2,108 was made to fund scholarships and programs for our youth. If you missed it this year be sure and catch it next year—2nd Saturday in May. No prices, donations only, thousands of items.

Our Mr. Chillicothe contestant this year is Jeremy Crull. Be sure to vote for him...look for the voting canisters around town.

Don’t miss these Optimist’s upcoming events:

June 5: Home Run Festival at City Park. The craft show in the park and bake sale will begin at 9am with entertainment on the stage beginning at 11am. New this year is a Semi-Truck cruise-in downtown. There will be a baseball batting cage for the kids, along with raffles, 50/50 tickets, and the Police, Fire Department, and AMT will be there to talk and give tours of their vehicles. Catch the Brad Wallin movie that will be playing at our Town Theater all weekend. There will be a scavenger hunt downtown in our great stores, so get signed up for that and win prizes. Also, back this year is the popular plant and flower booth. Webb’s Food Truck will be there and our great restaurants will be open and expecting you. We encourage you to bring your lawn chairs and stay the day! Remember all proceeds go to St. Jude’s!

June 9 & 10: Flag Day at City Intersections: Show your patriotism and buy a flag. Watch for us at some of the intersections with our flags. All proceeds go back to the Optimist’s Club to fund scholarships and programs for our youth.

Until next month....Stay Optimistic!
