Mr. Chillicothe 2023 - Lion's Club News

The Chillicothe Lions Club held their annual Mr. Chillicothe Contest Friday, June 16th and it was a resounding success! The event raised a record-breaking $14,371.90. Best of all, the contestants, the audience, and members of the Lion Club had a great time putting on the event. There were a lot of laughs, talent, and generosity displayed at the show and auction. The 2nd Runner Up and Mr. Congeniality winner was Tim White from Chillicothe Appliance. The 1st Runner Up was Duane Siggers and Brant Bollman from Gilmore’s Bar, and the winner of the contest for the second year in a row was Greg “Nelly” Nelson from Nat’s/Sweetwater.

All the money donated will eventually be given back to the community for three scholarships a year, teachers’ startup classes in all schools, the Chillicothe Street Flag Program, the IVC National Honor Society, the Chillicothe Veterans Memorial, for sound and stage improvements at the park, helping the 4th of July display, for the Pearce Community building, for supplemental lunch programs, for free eyeglasses and hearing aids to needy Chillicothe residents, for the Lions Foundation Bus for hearing and vision screening, for cataract surgeries and glaucoma preventions, and the eradication of river blindness worldwide.

Lions club members volunteer at Helping Hands, Lions Candy Day, co-host the Eagle Days pancake breakfast at Shore Acres with the Rotary Club, co-host a raffle with the Optimist Club, as well as hold the Mr. Chillicothe Contest.
