Dave was born on July 25, 1948 in St. Louis, MO to Delbert James and Betty Jo (Huddleston) Augsburger.  He married Leanna Sue Ulrich on November 29, 1968 in Flanagan, IL.  She preceded him in death on February 7, 2005. Also preceding him in death are his parents and his brother, Mark Augsburger.

Surviving are his children, David (Christina) Augsburger of Delta, OH, Joseph (Nikki) Augsburger of Chandler, AZ and Lisa Bischler of Chillicothe, IL; five grandchildren, Anthony (Julie) Bischler, Zachary Bischler, Bridgette Alexander, Erin Augsburger and Ashley Augsburger; and his great-grandchildren. Michael, Ashton and Isabella Alexander, Charlie and Kane Bischler.  Also surviving are three sisters, Barbara (Dave) Kalkwarf of McGregor, IA, Theresa (Neal) Ulrich of Waddell, AZ and Sheila (Kyle) Zehr of Geneseo, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Dave served his country in the U.S. Army.  He was a computer analyst for the Peoria Journal Star for 8 years and for Caterpillar for 27 years.  He was a member of the Chillicothe First United Methodist Church, American Legion, Amvets, the VFW Post #4999 and the Disabled American Veterans.  Dave enjoyed fishing, hunting, watersports, golfing, dart ball, bowling and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.

Cremation rites were accorded and a memorial service was held on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 12pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe with visitation at 10am. Rev. Ron Martz officiated.  Burial of ashes with military honors immediately followed at Chillicothe City Cemetery.  Memorials in Dave’s name may be made to the Chillicothe First United Methodist Church, the Wounded Warriors Project or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
