The Chillicothe Voice

Optimistically Speaking

As summer is winding down, we are looking at our upcoming fall events. Our next event will take place on September 14th. Our ever-popular Chili Supper is Back! This year we will be partnering with and having the event at South School during their Open House. You can eat in or carry out. From 4–7pm we will be serving up our “secret recipe” chili. Prices are: $10 for adults—includes chili, hot dog, chips, and a drink. $5 for children 10 and under—includes, hot dog, chips, applesauce, and a drink. An additional bowl of chili can be purchased for $2. Along with the chili, we will be having one of our fabulous bake sales. We hope you will all come out and support the Optimists Club and what we do for the community, and tour the school while you are there!

Other events are being organized as we speak and other partnerships are being explored…but you have to wait to find out what’s coming next by reading the Hometown Voice next month!

As always we invite you to come and see what we are all about. In September we are exploring a new time for our meetings. We’ve always met on the first and third Saturday mornings at 8am at Grecian Gardens. Because of the early hour, we find some people can’t attend. We have decided to try a test of having a meeting on the first Tuesday evening of each month at 6pm. This will be more of a social getting-to-know-each-other meeting, with occasional speakers and a venue for new ideas and programs. On the third Saturday of the month, our morning meeting will continue at our usual time (8am) and it will be a business meeting. We will try this out until the end of the year and see how it works. This new schedule will begin in September.

Remember to make the most of each day and stay optimistic!
