October is a special time in Chillicothe. Three Sisters Park continues with the Spider Hill Haunted Attractions tradition every Friday and Saturday weekend through the month. Local businesses and the community are getting involved with the Halloween fun. Check out all of the events dedicated to Halloween and one may note, for the month of October, the City of Chillicothe is turning into Halloween Town.

The City of Chillicothe offers yard waste burning from October 1st through December 15th. Check the City’s website under the “Residents” menu, then “Burning Schedule” for full details. The Moffitt yard waste drop-off is an alternative to burning. In September the hours are as follows: Mondays 4pm–6pm, Wednesdays 10am–noon & 4pm–6pm. Saturday’s 8am–1pm.

At the September 11th City Council meeting the Council:

  • Approved a Resolution for a Photoshoot at the Viaduct on Illinois Route 29 taking place Sunday, September 17th from 10am–noon. Traffic will be rerouted during the event.
  • Approved an Ordinance for the 4th Amendment to Riversound Annexation Agreement
  • Referred to the City Engineer to Review Riversound Phase Seven Development
  • Approved a Special Event Request from MoonTower for the 2nd Annual Riverfront Party on September 30th from 11am–11pm
  • Referred to City Attorney to File a Petition for a Dangerous Building on 1007 Santa Fe Ave.
  • Approved a Resolution Regarding Solar Energy Systems – Target Date Extension
  • Approved an Ordinance Amendment for Bicycles and Play Vehicles

City Council Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7pm at City Hall. The Public is welcome to attend.
