The Chillicothe Voice

The 2nd Annual Nightmare on Second Street Halloween festival will be held once again in Downtown Chillicothe.

This festival will have a host of events focused on bringing Chillicothe and its surrounding communities together to celebrate this spooky time of year. There will be a variety of events throughout the day from Noon to 7pm.

Starting at Noon, there will be a chili lunch/supper, a chili contest, and a scavenger hunt that will take you on a tour of the amazing shops and restaurants on 2nd Street, which by the way will be a part of the storefront decorating contest and sure to be a spooky sight. We also plan to have a spooky story time from 1pm–2pm where the little ones can listen to some Halloween-themed books being read, and a pumpkin decorating contest from 1pm–3pm.

On top of all that, we will be hosting the 2nd Annual Chillicothe Zombie Walk from 4pm–5pm. Participants can sign up to be in an event where they are encouraged to dress like a zombie (or any Halloween costume they like really) and put on their best zombie impressions as we make our way to the BRAINS, where we will find fun, prizes, and libations. The Zombie Walk is a fundraiser devoted to raising awareness of brain tumors and supporting brain tumor research. Proceeds will be donated to the Illinois College of Medicine.

And would you believe it, there is more…. Immediately following the Zombie Walk, Chillicothe will be holding its 2nd Annual Halloween Parade!  The parade will be located on 2nd Street in the historic downtown area. It starts at 5pm, just as the sun is starting to set so that floats can be decked out and lit up if the parade participants would like to do so. The parade will go from West Chestnut Street to Walnut Street then head to Front Street to the MoonTower Bar and Grill where the Monster’s Ball and Halloween Costume party will begin at 7pm.

It is sure to be a great time and guests are encouraged to wear their Halloween Costumes and have fun. If you would like more information, visit our Facebook Chillicothe Chamber of Commerce page and see our event page “Nightmare on 2nd Street.”

Hope to see you there!
