Lions Club Sneaker Recycling Program

The Chillicothe Lions Club, in conjunction with the Illinois Foundation, is collecting old tennis shoes to recycle. Old sneakers that you don’t use anymore, or don’t want any longer can be recycled for their rubber. It doesn’t matter how bad, or good of shape they’re in, they can be of value. All the money received from them will go towards the treatment and prevention of blindness and hearing & vision loss. All you have to do is tie the laces together and drop them into one of the five collection boxes around town. The five locations you can put them at are:

  • Chillicothe Appliance, 1016 N. 2nd St.
  • South School, 616 W. Hickory St.
  • IVC High School, 1300 W. Sycamore St.
  • C.E.C. School, 914 W. Truitt Ave.
  • Mossville School, 12207 N. Galena Rd., Mossville

You can also give them to any Chillicothe Lions Club member. What an easy and wonderful way to help the environment and those with vision loss. We will be collecting through December 20th.
