The Chillicothe Voice

From the President

Our February Membership Luncheon was at Pearce Community Center where we learned about a little-known business that has been here in Chillicothe for thirty years — Novel Electronic Design. Among other things, they produce contestant buzzer mechanisms for spelling bees and the like. FroSmoke Meatery, one of our Lacon members, catered the lunch. Our luncheons are membership lunches. But, if you are not a member and would like to attend, contact Amber at the Chamber office and she will be your host and we’ll give you a free lunch. However, our March meeting will be a Breakfast networking event at Nat’s Place at 8am. All are welcome here, too.

Our April Luncheon is a special one. Once a year, we partner with the City to present the Chamber Awards and the Civic Awards. The event is open to the public and will be held on April 17 at noon. This year, it will be catered at the Chillicothe Public Library. Hope to see you there!

We are working to get better attendance for the Chamber’s “Business After Hours” events; especially attracting more non-members. The events have always been open to the public but we think the general public may perceive these as chamber-only events. It has been suggested that the term “Business After Hours” be changed to promote it more as a public “Open House.” These events allow member businesses to showcase their place of business, and it’s a networking opportunity for all. There is no admission fee and there are snacks and a door prize! The next “Open House” will be in March, and the location will be posted on Facebook. Hope to see you there!

Do you subscribe to the Chamber’s monthly newsletter?  If you don’t yet, you can subscribe by visiting the Chamber’s web page at www.chillicothechamber.com. It highlights news and events of Chamber members.

The Chamber’s Downtown Chocolate Tour event was a success!  We sold tickets to 125 people who visited about sixteen downtown businesses to get their chocolate treats.

March 30th is the date for the annual Easter Egg Hunt in City Park. The Chamber is working on a downtown scavenger hunt to be held on the same day.

We are beginning the planning of our biggest event – Chillicothe Days and the Carnival – June 12 through 15. The carnival basically runs itself. Most of the Chamber’s efforts deal with the entertainment on the City Park stage. A great family event!

The Chamber is looking for volunteers to join our Ambassadors Program. You don’t need to be a Chamber member to be an ambassador. Joining gives you a chance to meet new people and businesses. And, it’s fun!  Get involved!

Working for you….
