Chillicothe Park District News

This year’s Jack Hammer Award winner, Barb Brusseau.

At the Chillicothe Park District, we believe volunteerism is one of the best forms of recreation!  The District has a variety of volunteer possibilities that can offer all segments of the community challenging and rewarding use of their recreation time. Volunteer participation in the Chillicothe Park District instills a sense of ownership and responsibility in the volunteer that leads to greater involvement and respect.

Since 2008, the Jack Hammer Award has been given annually by the Chillicothe Park District to honor an outstanding business or individual who has gone above the call of duty to promote parks in the Chillicothe Community. Last year’s winner, Kathy Close, was instrumental in providing the new eagle watch telescope at Shore Acres Park. This year’s winner is Barb Brusseau, a longtime advocate for parks and recreation in our community. Recently, Barb researched and donated irreplaceable, antique items from her family collection that are significant to the history of Shore Acres Park and Clubhouse.

The Chillicothe Park District and Chillicothe Parks Foundation are grateful for all of the individual and corporate help we receive from our entire community.
