Letter From the Editor – April 2024

Apr 01, 2024 09:40AM ● By Ginny Molleck

Community…It’s a simple word with many moving parts and personalities. It’s the people in Chillicothe that make this community so great. After publishing this newspaper for almost two years, it has become so clear how special this community is. Whether it’s baseball season and we’re all thinking about Brad Wallin or there’s a special event like the one for Mighty Millie on April 6th for a little girl born premature, this community comes together.

I urge each of you to consider becoming involved on a more regular basis by joining one of the area non-profit groups such as the Optimist, Rotary, Circle of Service, or the Lion’s Club. All of these groups do so much for our community and they all need help. If you want to connect with other businesses, the Chamber of Commerce is looking for ambassadors to support local businesses and events for just a few hours a month—and you don’t have to be a member. And of course, our local churches, schools, and parks can always use volunteers.

A few years ago, with the prompting of a friend, I joined the Optimists Club, and soon after I joined the Chamber of Commerce. I go to meetings regularly and have joined a few special committees as well. By choosing to become involved, not only do you meet a lot of new friends, but it’s a very rewarding experience to know that you are giving back to your community.

If you want to feel more connected in our community, there are many ways to get involved. Our hometown has something for everyone. April is National Volunteer Month—now is a good time to start.
