Chillicothe Circle of Service – May 2024

Circle of Service contributed many items to Arc at Chillicothe in April for their “General Store,” where residents shop once a month for stuff they’d like to have. Co-chairs Mary Baker and Diane Vojta delivered a trunkful of often-requested things to Marketing Director Missy Herridge. Included in the donation were costume jewelry, sun hats, lotions, shampoo, hairbrushes, toothbrushes/toothpaste, word puzzles and coloring books, along with many other items. Thanks to our members for their generosity!
In mid-March, Service Committee members Kitty Baxter and Marti Boyle presented CNA Director Darlene Kumpf with 20 – $25 Kroger gift cards to be used for Easter family dinners. Also in March, members helped with preparations for Spring Planting 2024 at Three Sisters Park by assembling escort binders and preparing germination packages/wrapping popcorn for one of the stations.
Another playground flower drum has been installed — this time at St. Edward’s School. Students of all ages and abilities enjoy this new addition to their playground!
We welcomed Charlie Rusk to our March meeting. Members were told about the vision Charlie and business partner Brady Miller have for the future of historic downtown Chillicothe. They are the two entrepreneurs behind renovation of the former Anderson Funeral Home and the old Chillicothe Public Library building. Together the two men have transformed those buildings into The Mill, an architectural salvage business and shop with furniture made from those salvaged items, and the newer The Carnegie, an eight-room boutique hotel in Chillicothe’s historic downtown. Charlie urged members to “Shop Local” to support Chillicothe’s many unique stores.
