Cooking With Vickie Britton – Punch Bowl Cake

This is one of my family favorites. It is easy and can be made a day in advance.

Here is what you will need.

Ingredients

1 -18 oz. box of Hines yellow cake mix. ( you can use white, pound cake, or angel food cake)

2 - 5 oz. boxes of instant vanilla pudding 

2 -21 oz cans of cherry pie filling (you can use strawberry or blueberry)

2 - 8 oz. cans of pineapple ( crushed or tidbits )

2 - 16 oz. cartons of Cool Whip

4–5 sliced bananas 

1 cup chopped pecans

1 small jar maraschino cherries 


  • Bake your cake as directed on the box
  • Let it cool
  • Combine ½ of the cake into a punch bowl (or a large bowl)
  • Mix your pudding as directed on the box
  • Pour ½ of the pudding over the cake in the punch bowl
  • Add one can of your cherry pie filling (or whatever you are using)
  • Add one can drained pineapple and a layer of bananas
  • Add ½ of your Cool Whip
  • Repeat your layers again
  • Top with some of the maraschino cherries and pecans
