Obituary – Suzanne Jacobs

Suzanne, age 74, of Chillicothe, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Heritage Manor in Chillicothe. Suzanne was born on February 24, 1950 in Peoria, IL to the late Robert W. “Bob” and Rosemary “Suzy” (Shepard) Beaumont.

Surviving are her sons, Michael (Jeanine) Jacobs of Chillicothe, and Mark (Lillian) Jacobs of Princeville; her grandchildren, Zachary Jacobs, Jill Jacobs, Ethan Griswold, Jeni Zick, Jason Buckley, Jared Buckley, Brandi Ferretti, and Jimmy Buckley; 18 great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert “Beaver” Beaumont of Peoria Heights, and her two sister-in-laws, Gail Jacobs and Carol Bolander, and her beloved pocket beagle, Shirley. Also surviving is a very dear friend of Suzanne, Missy Herridge, of Chillicothe.

Suzanne retired as the Dietary Supervisor from Heritage Health in Chillicothe after many years of working there and influenced many people over the years as their supervisor, mentor, co-worker and friend.

Suzy was a very caring, intelligent, determined, and talented person, as shown by her love for her family, friends, and animals, the improvements to her tiny house in Chillicothe over the years, her 1958 Nash Metropolitan that she restored at the age of 69, her willingness to help people improve their own homes and lives, and her love and appreciation of her own life. She had a talent for creating a vision of how to improve things and had the gift of being able to see the finished product and come up with ways to make it happen. She was never afraid to knock a wall out of any of her homes and change them for the better. She was also an avid reader, reading books and learning from them her entire life.

Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service was held on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. A celebration of life was held afterwards at the American Legion in Chillicothe. Interment will be at a later date in the family mausoleum in the Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to the A.R.K. in Lacon.
