What’s Happening in Chillicothe... July 2024
Jun 28, 2024 01:21PM ● By the City of Chillicothe
The City is bustling in July starting the month with the 4th of July Fireworks. Did you know this event is put on by a volunteer committee and all fireworks are purchased by donations from the community? There are many fundraising opportunities throughout the year to provide the fireworks for our community. Donations can be sent to PO Box 487, Chillicothe, IL 61523 or sent to Chillicothe Community Bank.
Public Works have been busy with the lawn maintenance in the parks and city property. Many park benches have been updated with new wood. In the old part of the Chillicothe cemetery, twenty five headstones were cleaned off and repaired and a new fountain was placed in the Sycamore Trails park.
For those heading to the river this season…the City is working diligently to make the Boat Dock Repairs a high priority. At this time the city docks are closed. For the safety of all, please stay off the docks and exercise caution in that area until the docks have been repaired and reopened.
The City has approved an ordinance for Short Term Rentals. This ordinance requires persons with homes used for short-term rentals to register with the city, hold a special use designation, and be subject to hotel and motel taxes. For more information contact city hall at 309-274-2020.
