Optimistically Speaking — July 2024

Summer…some people love it and some not so much! But whether you are a summer person or not a lot is going on in our town. June saw Chillicothe Days and the carnival come to town. Congratulations to Caylin Callahan as Miss Chillicothe, and Adam Carrier as Mr. Chillicothe.
Our Optimist’s Flag Day was interrupted this year by Mother Nature. The storm knocked out all the power in several businesses that we were to sell flags at, but our people still endured and were out on the streets and at the businesses the next day. Thank you to all who bought flags to support the Optimists and the youth in our community. We appreciate your loyalty to our efforts to support our kids.
Optimist Club President, Jeannie Quick, presented a check to Mike Mahoney for the town theater for over $3,800 from the proceeds of our annual garage sale.
The teachers given checks in June to help start up their classes in the fall were, Ashley Kluge, St. Edwards; Trisha Deppollder, Calvary Baptist; and Stefanie Hedden, South School.
Our meetings are held the first and third Saturdays at the Casting Club at 8:30am. We would love to have you join us! For more information on how you can get involved call 309-678-8951.
Have a great summer and keep cool....and as always, stay Optimistic!
