The Chillicothe Lions Club — July 2024

The Chillicothe Lions Club held their 38th annual Mr. Chillicothe Contest Friday, June 14th during Chillicothe Days and it was a resounding success! The event raised over $11,000. Best of all, the contestants, the audience, and members of the Lions Club had a great time putting on the event. There were a lot of laughs, talent, and generosity displayed at the show and auction. The 1st Runner Up was Neil Price from the Optimists Club, 2nd place winner and Mr. Congeniality was Tim White from Chillicothe Appliance, and the winner of the contest was Adam Carrier from Nat’s Place/Sweetwater.

All the money donated will eventually be given back to the community through student scholarships along with contributions to many community programs. The Lions Club also provides free eyeglasses and hearing aids to needy Chillicothe residents. The Vision of the Lions of Illinois Foundation is to create a permanent vehicle for the delivery of programs and services to the visually and hearing impaired.

Lions club members volunteer at Helping Hands, Lions Candy Day, co-host the Eagle Days pancake breakfast at Shore Acres with the Rotary Club, co-host a raffle with the Optimist Club, as well as hold the Mr. Chillicothe Contest.

If you want to help out your community and have fun doing it, contact any member of the Chillicothe Lions Club to join, or keep an open mind when anyone from the club approaches you about it. We are continuing to grow and have fun each year!
