Merry, 71, of Chillicothe, Illinois, formerly Lacon, died on June 14, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family. Born on November 29, 1952 in Peoria, Illinois to the late William and Helen (Presley) Fuller, she married Richard Durrstein on July 7, 2004 in Lacon. He survives.

Merry is also survived by her daughters Charmagne (Thomas) Berchtold of Chillicothe, Helen Sample of Peoria, Sabrina (Matt Dunshee) Higdon of Henry, stepchildren Nathan Hobbs of Wisconsin; Patrick Hobbs of Indiana, Alyssa & Austin Durrstein of Washington Illinois, Alex & Aric Durrstein of Michigan; sisters Sharon Kerns of Princeton Illinois, Lenora Williams of Henry Illinois; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son Robert Sample; brother William Fuller II; sister Karen Johnson; and brother-in-law Alan L. Durrstein.

Merry enjoyed doing crafts and collecting antiques, but what she enjoyed the most was extreme decorating for the holidays with her husband and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Merry were held Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Lenz Memorial Home in Lacon, with visitation held one hour prior to service at 10am. Burial followed in the Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Helping Hands and online condolences can be left at lenzmemorialhome.com.
