Optimistically Speaking

The lazy days of summer are upon us, but summer never seems very lazy. There is so much to do in the summertime with all the mowing, gardening, ball games, picnics, swimming, and vacations going on it makes it one of the busiest times of the whole year.
It's especially nice when the humidity is low, the yard work is all done, there is a nice breeze in the evening and you can sit outside with a glass of iced tea and watch the world go by.
In less than a month the kids will be back in school and we will be watching the leaves begin to change color. It all seems to go by so fast and the older you get the faster it goes.
In August, the Optimist's Club will again start giving checks to three teachers each month to help them buy items for their rooms.
Right now we are planning for some of our fall and winter fundraisers. Watch for a new kid's program that will start up this fall in the district. You're gonna love it!
In October we will again participate in the downtown trick or treat and then watch for our Christmas Bonanza, where we give thousands of dollars in gift cards out to 2-3 lucky winners. Next comes the bell ringing and the Christmas toy drive. It will all be here before we know it.
See you next month and remember; always be kind to one another and look for an opportunity to help someone.
Our Optimist's meetings are at 8:30am the first and third Saturdays of the month at the Casting Club. For more information call: Sherry @ 309-678-8951.
