Hello Chillicothe,
Last month the Chillicothe Lions Club inducted new officers. I am honored to be the president for this year. One of my main goals is to recruit new members. If you are interested in becoming a Lion, feel free to contact me. We have a monthly social dinner on the 4th Wednesday of every month. This month we will be at Grecian Gardens on July 24th. If you are interested in joining or want to learn about the club, we will have a social hour before our dinner at 5:30 pm. Feel free to show up. We’d love to have you. Drinks are on us!
Our largest fund raiser is the Mister Chillicothe contest. We raised $11,600 this year. These funds will go directly back to you. Thanks to all that donated as well as the participants. The money we collect during this event and our candy sales pay for school snack packs, three scholarships for an IVC graduate, and various other donations are made to other groups in town.
The Lions Club also collects old glasses, hearing aids, key fobs, and tennis shoes. We recycle these items to assist people in need. You can drop any of these listed items off at Chillicothe Appliance. You can drop off glasses/hearing aids at Pearce Community Center and Village Eye Care. Next month we hope to have other drop-off areas and we will supply a full list of locations.
We are working on getting a mobile testing bus to town sometime next year. We will be able to complete hearing tests and retinal eye exams for children. The date has yet to be determined. On July 13th two Chillicothe Lions, Bill Stoops and I, attended training to be able to administer these tests. More information to come in the next few months.
Again, if you are interested in joining the Lions Club feel free to contact me or attend our social hour.
Lion, Tim White
