Keeping Your Belongings Safe
Sep 30, 2024 10:14AM ● By Dave MolleckFor a variety of reasons, many people store their belongings in mini-storage units. In some cases, mini-storage facilities have security cameras to help protect the storage units from theft, but usually there isn’t electricity available for individual security systems. Unfortunately, each year, many storage units fall prey to thieves in search of tools, machines, and other valuables.
U-Lok Storage of Chillicothe has taken the next step to protect the valuables of their renters. They now offer Storage Defender. Storage Defender is designed to sense human temperature and movement. It’s very small and attaches to the wall with a magnet and is low cost. For only $12.00 per month, you can be notified each time someone enters your storage locker. Its battery life is around 10 years so there won’t be any worry about changing the batteries. Two phone numbers can be programmed into the unit and once Storage Defender senses movement, text messages are sent to the phone numbers programmed into the system. Once notification is sent, you determine if someone was supposed to be in your storage unit in the safety of your home. For contractors, this could be a way to track when an employee shows up for work.
U-Lok Storage is the first in the area to offer Storage Defender. It took some investment to put the system in place and I applaud them for giving an option to the local people using their storage facility. It’s just one more thing people won’t have to worry about anymore.
