Optimistically Speaking – October 2024

Fall is always a busy time of year for the Optimist’s Club. On September 12th we had our annual Chili Supper and Bake Sale at South School. As always, the chili was great and a large crowd was on hand to eat it. Again this year our bake sale was fabulous and sold out! The Chili Supper helps us fund three $1000 scholarships at the high school each year as well as many other projects.
Our installation of officers was held on September 24th with a ceremony and dinner at Grecian Gardens. The slate for the 2024-2025 officers are: Jeannie Quick, President and Public Relations Consultant; Jackie Taylor, Vice President; Shaun Grant, Treasurer; Lori Richards, Secretary. Board members for the year are: Sherry Adams, Bobbie Bisio, Cheryl Duckworth, Marilyn DeVoss, Neil Price, and Rosa McDonald.
By now you’ve probably all heard about the new transition of the theater. If you haven’t there is a press release in this issue of the Hometown Voice that tells all about it. We are excited and Optimistic that this is going to be a great new venture for the whole town.
On September 14th the theater held a Grease sing-along. There was a vintage car to take pictures with, raffle baskets, and a costume contest. The winner won a set of gaming headphones and four tickets to the Chillicothe Players productions. Everyone attending had a great time!
This month we are organizing our Christmas Bonanza and come the first week of November we will begin selling tickets. You can get tickets from any Optimist member, and we will be selling tickets the day of the Christmas Parade in City park at the Nickolaus Market along with another one of our great bake sales, so don’t miss our tent at the park.
The teacher’s names that were drawn for September are: Melanie Cochran - Calvary Baptist, Natalie Ray - South, and Alexis Fritz - South. Each teacher will receive a $50 check to use for their classroom.
Until Next Month... Stay Optimistic!
