The Chillicothe Voice

Optimistically Speaking – November 2024

Last month we enjoyed fall in its full splendor of reds, oranges, and yellows. Now it’s time to get out those sweatshirts, jackets, and long pants. You might feel like cooking comfort foods like; chili, chicken and noodles, soups, and stews. (Or at least ordering them off the menu.)

October 11th was the last special event at the Town Theater. The original Ghostbusters movie was shown at the theater along with the Ghostbusters car and crew on hand. It was a fun event!

The last weekend of October the Town Theater closed its doors so that Mike Tobin can begin renovations. The Optimists Club wants to thank all of you for years of movie-going, enabling us to give over $150,000 back to our youth groups in Chillicothe and surrounding communities. Although we are closing our first run movie theater for now, we are excited and are looking forward to what the Town Theater will be transformed into; a live performing arts theater with bands, comedy acts, recitals, plays, movies, and more! We believe this theater will be a jewel in Chillicothe’s crown and will bring in people from all over, benefiting all our town’s businesses. Thank you, Mike Tobin, for taking on this project of saving and restoring our historic building.

November 2nd we will begin selling Christmas Bonanza Tickets. Tickets are still just $10 each for a chance for 2-3 people to win a thousand dollars or more in gift cards from local Chillicothe businesses to go Christmas shopping with. You can buy tickets from any Optimist member or at the Nikolausmarkt in City Park at the Christmas Parade on November 23rd. Winners will be drawn at the CNA basket drive at Three Sisters Park. Don’t miss out on this extravaganza!

The teachers’ names drawn out this month were: Amanda Hamilton – South, Valorie Mills – CEC and Kelly Boeklins – Mossville. Congratulations! Each teacher will receive a check for $50 to use for their classrooms.

As always, stay optimistic....see you next month!
