Message from the Chamber of Commerce

This year’s Merchant Trick or Treat event was a great success for the kids… again; no matter the weather. We hope you parents enjoyed the kids’ sugar rush!
We are starting to plan this year’s Christmas Parade which is scheduled for November 23rd starting at 3pm. The theme for this year’s parade will be “Camouflage Christmas.” That theme should make for some interesting floats! Santa and Mrs. Clause will set up directly after the parade on the City Park stage this year instead of at the fire station. The City is also planning a new event in City Park – Nikolausmarkt will set up in the park on both Friday and Saturday.
We are considering two new Chamber events for this winter. One we are calling the Twelve Days of Christmas. The idea is to ask twelve local businesses to hold an open house on twelve different days between Thanksgiving and Christmas and offer specials and treats. The hope is to get Christmas shoppers to patronize our local businesses.
The other event will be a Trivia Contest to be held at Pearce Community Center with a dinner. Teams of four will compete through a bracket with the winners receiving some sort of a prize. This event will be open to the public and is being planned for mid-January.
Our October Open House/Business After Hours was held at Three Sisters Park. There was a dedication of a walkway in memory of Chris Cassidy. And, we also saw the early preparations for Spider Hill. These events are open to the public. Hope to see you at future events. If you have an idea for an Open House, or if you would like to host one, just let Amber know.
We are in the midst of a Membership Drive for new Chamber members. The strength of the Chamber is its members. Also, the Chamber is looking for volunteers to join our Ambassadors Program. Do you have someone in your business or organization who would like to get involved? You don’t need to be a Chamber member to be an ambassador. Joining gives you a chance to meet new people and businesses. And, it’s fun! Get involved! Contact Amber at the Chamber office – 309) 274-4556 or email at [email protected].
Do you subscribe to the Chamber’s monthly newsletter? If you don’t yet, you can subscribe by visiting the Chamber’s web page at www.chillicothechamber.com. It highlights news and events of Chamber members. As a member, you can ask Amber to post things for you; the deadline is the 20th of each month.
Working for you…
Don White, President
