What’s Happening in Chillicothe... February 2025

Jan 28, 2025 12:02PM ● By the City of Chillicothe

Every February 2, thousands gather at Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, to hear Groundhog Phil’s weather forecast. While his predictions are only 39% accurate, the tradition remains a fun celebration of folklore.

In Chillicothe, Illinois, February offers its own spectacle: American Bald Eagles along the Illinois River. Top viewing spots include the 20-foot Observation Tower at Elm Street and the eagle-viewing telescope at Shore Acres Park, where you can marvel at these majestic birds.

On Saturday, February 8th, the Chillicothe Rotary and Lions Clubs, along with the Chillicothe Public Library, will host the Eagle Watch Pancake and Sausage Breakfast at Shore Acres Clubhouse from 7:30 to 10:30am. Later that day, the Chamber of Commerce will hold the Chillicothe Chocolate Tour in the Historic Downtown District, offering sweet treats and local charm.

With these family-friendly events and Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, February 14th, February in Chillicothe is packed with fun and excitement. See the below calendar for more February events.
