The Chillicothe Voice

Chillicothe Lions Club

Starting February 1st the Chillicothe Lions Club will be holding their tennis shoes recycling program again. If you have an old pair or pairs of tennis shoes that are too old to wear or have been outgrown please drop them off at one of the drop boxes located at all of the school buildings in the school district. Participating schools will be:

  • South Elementary School, 616 W. Hickory St.
  • C.E.C. School, 914 W. Truitt Ave.
  • IVC High School, 1300 W. Sycamore St.
  • IVC Learning Center, 1057 N. 2nd St.
  • Mossville Elementary & Jr. High School, 12207 N. Galena Rd., Mossville

All of the proceeds received by the recycling of these shoes will go to the Lions of Illinois Foundation. The Lions of Illinois Foundation provides camps for visual and hearing students, glasses and hearing aids for those in need, vision and hearing buses for testing in communities, and help for the cure and prevention for glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.

Just tie the laces together and get them in the drop boxes. Also, the Chillicothe Lions Club will be sending two area visual and hearing-impaired students to camp this summer with some of the proceeds from this program. We will also be helping out the landfills as well when we recycle these shoes. Thank you for your help, and don’t forget the Lions and Rotary Pancake and Sausage Breakfast Feb. 8th at Shore Acres.
