The Chillicothe Voice

Chillicothe Public Library’s New Director

Hello, Chillicothe! I would like to take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Alyce Jackson and I am the new Director of Chillicothe Public Library District. While I may be new to Chillicothe Public Library, I have worked in libraries for over 25 years, in positions that include Children’s Librarian, Branch Manager, and Manager of Programs.

One thing that drew me to Chillicothe Public Library was the support from the community. Chillicothe residents love their library, and I hear it every day! I am not surprised by the support because Chillicothe Public Library is pretty amazing. From a smiling face at the circulation desk to fun and engaging programs for all ages, to shelves filled with great offerings, Chillicothe has it all. Oh—and did I mention the bees? Come check out the working beehive on our patio if you haven’t already!

That being said, if there is something missing, please let us know! Is there a specific book or movie you’re looking for? Are you interested in tech help or learning a new skill? Please speak up and we will do our best to help.

As a former Children’s Librarian, we are coming up on one of my favorite times of the year—and the library’s busiest time of year—Summer Reading! Everyone remembers Summer Reading from their childhood, but did you know you can participate as an adult? In fact, we encourage it! We love to see patrons of all ages participating together: caregivers reading with their children, children reading to their grandparents, siblings and friends reading with each other. And, best of all, you can read whatever you want to read.

Chillicothe’s Summer Reading Program runs June 8 through July 19. We kick off the program with an amazing Summer Celebration that includes music, food trucks, face painters, and more. Please join us on June 7 from 12–2 pm for this awesome event, open to anyone, regardless of their participation in the reading program.

We hope to see you this summer! Please stop by and say hello.
