IVC Ghost Post

Here is what happened on the IVC scene this past April…

The Illini Prairie Conference held its Fine Arts Festival on Monday, April 14th, at St. Thomas More High School in Champaign. Nine IVC choir students joined with other students in the conference to put on an amazing performance directed by Andrew Bruhn, the Director of Choral Activities at Illinois State University. Art students displayed their work in a show, and IVC took home 9 awards, including three first-place trophies: Color Drawing: Lee Harp; Photography: Rae Krause; and Digital Art: Lidia Gallego.

This year, IVC chemistry teacher, Chantel Rinkel, organized a team of students to participate in ACES (Academic Challenge for Engineering and Science). The Academic Challenge event is a series of high school competitions organized by The School of Extended Learning at Eastern Illinois University. The team competed in the many academic areas. At the regional level, IVC earned first place in the 700 Division. IVC’s team advanced to the sectional competition and earned 2nd place, and qualified to advance to the state competition. At the state level, the IVC ACES team earned 11th place out of 42 teams. This was an exciting first competition for the IVC Academic Challenge Team!

Here is what is happening on the IVC scene this May…
As the school year comes to an end, we would like to congratulate the Class of 2025 Sterling Merit Award recipients! Thank you to the Chillicothe Rotary Club for sponsoring IVC’s participation in the program. The Sterling Merit Award is presented to students who are in the top 8% of the graduating class (based on the students’ cumulative GPA after seven semesters of high school). 13 IVC students will be recognized at the Sterling Merit Awards Banquet on May 6th at the Peoria Civic Center.

Coming up rapidly will be the last day of school on Thursday, May 22, 2025. For those who are anxiously awaiting the start of the 2025-2026 school year, IVC High School Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, August 7th, 2025 from 6-7:30pm. The first day of school for students will be Monday, August 11, 2025.
