Cooking With Vickie Britton – Apple Bars

Ingredients:
- 1 pkg. (2-layer size) yellow cake mix
- ½ cup softened butter
- 3 to 4 cooking apples peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 cup sour cream
- ¼ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium bowl combine cake mix and butter. Mix until it resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside 2/3 cup of the crumb mixture.
Press the remainder of the crumbs onto the bottom of a 13x9x2 baking dish
Place the thinly sliced apples evenly on top of the crumb layer.
In a small bowl combine egg and sour cream. Spread on top of your apples.
In a bowl combine your reserved 2/3 cup crumbs, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Sprinkle on top.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the center is set and the apples are tender.
Serve warm or cooled.
Top with Cool Whip or your favorite topping.
Cover and store in the refrigerator.
