Obituary – Stephen “Bo” Brown

Bo, 76 passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025 at his home in Merritt Island, Florida. Bo was born in Peoria and raised in Chillicothe, Illinois. Bo was an athlete who played football and basketball at Chillicothe Township High School. He was also a track star who earned multiple school pole vaulting records. 

Bo was a combat disabled veteran who served in Vietnam and retired with 23 years of service in the Air Force, Explosive Ordnance Division. Post retirement he worked for Air Force Pad Safety on the Delta Program at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Afterwards, Bo worked as a civil servant for the NASA Safety Department at Kennedy Space Center retiring as the Explosives Program Manager in 2015.

Bo enjoyed NASCAR racing especially attending the Daytona 500 with his friend and brother-in-law Edward Senavaitis. He also enjoyed power boating, fishing, and traveling with friends and family. 

Bo was the son of Donald and Mary Brown of Chillicothe, Illinois. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Christina; sons Jean Pierre and Gabriel and daughter Sherene and grandchildren Marina and David. 

The visitation, service and celebration of life were held on April 10, 2025 at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 North Courtenay Parkway, Merritt Island, Florida. Color Guard burial was held on April 11, 2025 at the Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1 Mims, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army (Salvationarmyusa.org) in Stephen “Bo” Brown’s memory.
