Service Above Self – Abby Bazyn

The Rotary Club of Chillicothe had the honor of attending the 2025 Senior Honors Night and presented the Service Above Self award and the 2025 Continuing Education Scholarship to Illinois Valley Central High School Seniors.

Service Above Self Award
This award recognizes a student who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to serving others, consistently putting the needs of their community ahead of their own. Inspired by the Rotary motto, "Service Above Self," this honor is awarded to a graduating senior who leads with compassion, acts with integrity, and gives generously of their time and talents—not for recognition, but because they believe in making a difference through volunteer work, leadership in school or community initiatives, or everyday acts of kindness. The student exemplifies the values of selflessness, responsibility, and civic engagement. Their actions inspire others and reflect a maturity and dedication far beyond their years. This year’s award went to Abby Bazyn.

Vocational/Continuing Education Grant
The $1,000 Vocational/Continuing Education Grant was established to support individuals pursuing hands-on careers through vocational training, continuing education, or skilled trades programs. These paths often include specialized instruction and practical experience gained through apprenticeships, technical schools, or certification programs. Rotary recognizes skilled trades such as electrician, welder, plumber, carpenter, and many others are vital to our communities and economy. The grant was made possible through a matching donation from the Summer Camp Music Festival’s Community Contribution Fund. This year’s award went to Grant Bramer.

The club meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month in the lounge at Grecian Gardens from 7am-8am. If you are interested in growing your network and making an impact in your community, contact the Rotary Club of Chillicothe President, Amanda Beadles at City Hall at 309-274-3107 or email at [email protected].
