Message from the Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber’s biggest event of the year —Chillicothe Days and Carnival—is over. Even though it was a very hot weekend, many of you still came out to enjoy our small-town entertainment, food, and camaraderie. At one of the stage events, the crowd was asked what one word summarizes Chillicothe. As I looked around City Park and saw the joy from all ages experiencing Chilli Days in their own way, I thought to myself, it’s “community.” Not only does this community event offer us a source of fun and fellowship for one weekend in June, but the money you spend comes back to support the community through the different organizations that come together for the event – The Lion’s Club, The Fred Meister Chillicothe Community Firefighters Association, and of course, the Chamber of Commerce.
Now, coming up, the last weekend in July, is our annual city-wide garage sale. Then, on August 10th, the Chamber will be holding its annual HLC Canoe/Kayak Jaunt. It’s quite a sight to see all the watercraft traversing the Illinois River as a group from Henry to Lacon and ending in Chillicothe. Call Amber at the chamber office at 309-274-4556 for more information on either event.
