Chillicothe High School Alumni Banquet Honors Distinguished Graduates
Philip M. “Mike” Ratcliff, Class of 1978, Illinois Valley Central High School
The annual Chillicothe High School Alumni All-School Banquet was held on June 14 at Illinois Valley Central High School. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Award, jointly sponsored by the Chillicothe Alumni Association, the Illinois Valley Central Educational Foundation, and IVC School District 321.
The award honors graduates of Chillicothe Township High School and Illinois Valley Central High School who have demonstrated exceptional achievements throughout their lives. Recipients are selected for their professional accomplishments, civic involvement, career impact, philanthropic service, and other noteworthy contributions.
The 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients are:
Philip M. “Mike” Ratcliff, Class of 1978, Illinois Valley Central High School
Jane Hathaway Haven, Class of 1941, Chillicothe Township High School
The awards were presented by Dr. Chad Allison, Superintendent of IVC District 321. Although Jane Hathaway Haven passed away in 2017, her legacy continues to inspire. Her two daughters, who traveled from Massachusetts and California, accepted the award on her behalf. Jane’s nomination was submitted by Brian Fislar, whose historical research highlighted her groundbreaking contributions in the field of agricultural science.
Each year, the Distinguished Alumni Award Committee invites nominations from the public. Individuals may nominate themselves or others they believe are deserving of the honor. Nominations are due by February 14, and forms are available at ivcschools.com.
The banquet serves not only as a reunion for graduates across generations but also as a celebration of the enduring legacy of excellence among Chillicothe’s alumni.
