Optimistically Speaking
I can hardly believe it is August already. Where did the summer go? One thing I know for sure is that the older you get, the faster the weeks, months, and years go by....ask any older person!
The Club is gearing up for its 40th Anniversary Celebration. 40 years ago, Harry Crull started the first Optimist Club in Chillicothe. Here we are 40 years later, still going strong, raising money for our youth and projects in our town.
We will be celebrating by having a potluck (meat provided) picnic at the Shore Acres Park’s north pavilion on August 9th. Any former members are invited to join us for the fun; just let Jeannie Quick (309-360-0445) know the week before, so we can order enough chicken. We hope Harry, our founder, will be able to join us that day, so we can express our gratitude for his effort in starting this club many long years ago. There will be food, fun, and some surprises too that day.
Watch for our upcoming events for the fall that we will be posting on our website and in the Hometown Voice next month. Until then… stay optimistic!
