Improve Your Sidewalk – Get City Help! Need a new sidewalk or replacing an old one? The City of Chillicothe’s Residential Sidewalk Participation Program can cover up to 80% of costs (max $2,000) for eligible homes. Open to residential areas, including curbs and driveway sidewalk sections. Apply by September 15 with bids from two City-approved contractors—funds are limited, so don’t wait! Get Rewarded for Protecting Your Home! The Chillicothe Police Department’s Community Camera Reimbursement Program offers residents up to $200 reimbursement when purchasing two or more brand-new outdoor surveillance cameras with night vision and at least 48 hours of video storage. To qualify, you must live in Chillicothe and have your application approved before buying the cameras. Applications are available at the Police Department. Already have cameras? At the August 11th City Council Meeting the Council:
Approved:
- The appointment of Sandi Levell First Ward Alderperson, to fill the unexpired term of Donald White.
- Appointment of Scott Hemstreet to the Zoning Board of Appeals to fill the unexpired term of Sandi Levell through 2028
- Authorize the Mayor to respond to the Peoria County Variance regarding a variance for a porch requested for property located at 4610 Lakeview Dr., that is within the 1 ½ mile jurisdiction of Chillicothe, with the response that the city has no objection to the variance request.
- Resolution committing funds for the Cloverdale PPUATS Project
- Sidewalk Program Application for 514 Taylor Drive in the amount of $1,497.60
- An expenditure of $3,340 payable to Complete Maintenance System for the Flushing of Fire Hydrants
- Ordinance Regarding Columbarium and Ossuary Engraving
- Special Event Request for the Chilli Dawgs Band Party to be held outdoors on August 22, 2025, from 4pm–11pm at Gilmore’s Sports Bar.
- Special Event Request for the Zombie Walk to be held on October 25, 2025, from 11am to 7pm. Street Closing is from 5pm-7pm for the Nightmare on Second Street Parade.
- Special Event Request for Little Shop of Hoarders on August 30, 2025, from 11am-3pm for a food truck.
- Special Event Request for a Block Party at the Woodbine cul de sac on September 20, 2025 from 2pm-9pm
