The Chillicothe Voice

Chillicothe Circle of Service

In August, members enjoyed a pizza and salad bar at Molly’s Pizzeria, and we thank Molly for her willingness to host our meeting.

After dinner, Kevin Yates and Amber Taylor from the Chillicothe Park District (CPD) addressed the group. Kevin gave us background on how the Park District gets their operating funds. Did you know 4% of your property taxes support CPD’s efforts to maintain the nine different facilities covering 250 acres throughout the area? They have seen tremendous growth recently, yet your tax rate has remained the same for a number of years. They work hand-in-hand with the Chillicothe Parks Foundation, which provides enhancement of the parks and public offerings. The Foundation has launched a “Trees of  Life” campaign so residents can plant a tree in honor or memory of a loved one as a living tribute. It’s hoped these trees will replace the 35+ trees lost to the emerald ash borer. Amber updated us on the many activities sponsored by CPD, including Coffee at the Clubhouse, Line Dancing, Senior Getaway Days, and Senior Steppers, encouraging members to join in. We thank them for their presentation.

With financial support from Covered Wagon Crafts, Energy Resource Roofing, Galena Road Gravel, Hair Company, High 5 Apparel, Lingenfelter Insurance Agency, Inc., Molly’s Pizzeria, Rescue 33 Community Foundation, River City Septic & Excavating, State Farm and Walmart, along with donations from members and an amount allocated in Circle of Service’s budget, we’ve distributed $2,750 in prorated gift cards to the seven public and private schools within District 321. These gift cards are to be used by teachers to purchase required items for their students in need. THANKS Chillicothe for helping local students!
